Project 2

Interviews

My app concept: create an app that provides all kinds of information about cosmetics, including different brands, instructions, ingredients, and shared reviews. Most importantly check the expiration date of a product.

Interviewee: Claire, Jennifer, Kana

Demographic info

  • Claire: age 23, SMC student, she likes doing makeup before she goes out with her friends, or go on a date.
  • Jennifer: age 26, musician, doing makeup every day.
  • Kana: age 20, international student. She carries useful makeup when she goes out.

Person’s goals, needs

  • Claire wants to learn different beauty techniques from this app, so she doesn’t have to look all over the internet to find the one she likes. She hopes this app could be professionally targeting people who love makeup and provide a comprehensive platform for people to search and share.
  • Jennifer likes the idea of the app because it is convenient to check the expiration date of the product and see the instructions. Sometimes when she bought cosmetics and doesn’t know how to use it, scan the product could be a really useful function.
  • Kana’s goal is to save time finding the beauty tutorials on youtube while she’s doing the make-up. She hopes that the app could give her more recommendations based on her preferred styles. She also likes the reminder that could remind her to do the skincare on time.

their perspectives

  • Claire: a great app could help girls to organize their beauty products. its safe to know if this product is still usable or it is good for my skin.
  • Jennifer: It’s nice to have such a beauty platform that collects all brands and information, there hasn’t been an app like this, it’s a great idea.
  • Kana: It will be helpful to have this app that reminds me to do my skincare routine because sometimes I’m forgetful. I like the function that saves all my cosmetic information on the phone.
